Active Assisted Living (AAL), accessibility and user interfaces

Scope

To develop international publications addressing aspects of active assisted living (AAL), accessibility, usability and specific user interfaces related to audio, video and multimedia systems and equipment within the scope of TC 100. Specific aspects related to audio, video and multimedia systems and equipment to be addressed include:
• User requirements for accessibility and usability
• Requirements for systems and equipment for active assisted living, including wearable smart devices
• Standardization to address the identified requirements for active assisted living, accessibility and usability
• User Interfaces, interfaces, protocols and control mechanisms for systems and equipment for active assisted living, accessibility and usability

Scope

This standard specifies a set of principles and provisions for consumer solutions whose primary function is to receive Digital Television. These cover three main areas: User Interface accessibility, content accessibility and accessibility through external solutions. It covers solutions that provide access to linear broadcast as well as those that offer on-demand/catch-up broadcast over Internet Protocol. It also covers hybrid devices.

Title

Stage 0 project on Ambient Assisted Living (AAL)
IEC TR 62907: Use cases related to Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) in the field of audio, video and multimedia systems and equipment

Scope

The project team will:

  • conduct a survey to collect AAL use cases in the field of audio, video and multimedia systems and equipment;
  • contribute to the work of IEC SMB SG 5 AAL by submitting AAL use cases summarized from the survey;
  • find out AAL future new work items in the field of audio, video and multimedia systems and equipment; and
  • prepare a technical report as the deliverable of the project

Also the project team will review the IEC TR 62678, Audio, video and multimedia systems and equipment activities and considerations related to accessibility and usability, and revise as necessary based on the result of discussions in the project team. (Current stage 0 project on accessibility will be merged to this project.)
