Energy Saving System (ESS): Network-Based Energy Consumption Measurement of AV Multimedia Equipment and Systems
TA 12
Title
Energy efficiency
Scope
This Technical Area (TA) is responsible for developing the standard measurement methods for the power use of televisions, set top boxes (STB), audio equipment, multi-function equipment, and multimedia systems and equipment. The measurement methods will address equipment that connects to the power mains. The measurement methods will also address normal use conditions.
To the extent practicable, the participants in this TA will evaluate and potentially define the various operating modes in terms of their power use. The participants will also consider the approaches for saving energy through the standardization of control mechanisms in networked multimedia equipment.
Methods of measurement for the power consumption of audio, video and related equipment
Scope
To revise International Standard IEC 62087 for the part of STB

Title
Energy Saving System (ESS): Network-Based Energy Consumption Measurement of AV Multimedia
Equipment and Systems
Scope
This document specifies an energy saving system, which provides energy monitoring and saving
functions to users of home appliances and home network devices. As for energy monitoring
functions, the system encourages users to save electric energy by themselves. And as for energy
saving functions, the system will automatically reduce standby power. Especially, Part 1 specifies
conceptual model and basic architecture of the energy saving system, and requirements of the
system, legacy home appliances, and home network devices.
